The Golden Thread of MRD 0.2

Don was my favourite Rickman. Derek always seemed a bit grumpy. Don was also the better and more stylish rider.
Rickman made all of MRDs bikes in 1984-1985 but my connection with Don goes much further back. Both of Don's sons raced at Ringwood Schoolboy Scramble Club and Don was the master of the Dads race by then, usually winning by a mile on eldest son's 125 Suzuki in his Dunlop wellie boots. Everyone in the club would watch Don as he usually had the best lines around the race track.
They made some fantastic bikes for me, around 1500 + I never broke a frame and there a re a few still floating around these days, some being ridden and some on walls. The Roots of MRD are embedded deeply in Scrambling and MX amongst other interests but the beating heart of MRD has MX tattooed all over and through it and this fella had a lot to do with that.
