This is one of Profile Racing’s finest BMX products, designed for riders who demand instant engagement, reliable chain tension, and long-term serviceability. Fully rebuildable and precision-made, this freewheel is built to perform under hard riding conditions where lesser freewheels fail. There is no risk of sliding cogs or movement under load — once engaged, it stays locked in when you crank hard.

Each freewheel is supplied with a Suntour freewheel remover, making installation and servicing straightforward.

Engagement & Performance

The Profile Racing freewheel uses a six-pawl system with 140 points of engagement per revolution, delivering extremely fast pickup. This rapid engagement translates directly into more immediate power transfer when accelerating, particularly noticeable in race starts and hard pedal strokes.

For BMX racing specifically, the 17T and 18T sizes, when paired with a larger front chainring, create a more efficient power distribution. By increasing the amount of chain engaged with the teeth, load is spread across more contact points, reducing friction and improving acceleration efficiency.

Materials & Construction

The outer cog is manufactured from hardened, nickel-plated chromoly, providing excellent wear resistance and durability. Internally, the freewheel uses a hardened S-7 tool steel outer cog driver with a width of 20.2mm, combined with a titanium threaded inner body driver measuring 16.5mm. This construction balances strength, weight, and long-term reliability.

Two fully sealed Enduro bearings are used to ensure smooth operation and protection from dirt and moisture, contributing to the freewheel’s longevity and consistent performance.

This freewheel is easily serviced and completely rebuildable, allowing it to be maintained rather than replaced. The 3/32″ tooth width is compatible with both 3/32″ and 1/8″ chains, making it suitable for a wide range of BMX setups.
